Ana David

Ana David (1989) is a Lisbon based film programmer. She started off at Queer Lisboa - International Queer Film Festival, Lisbon’s oldest film festival, where she worked at 2010-2015. As its co-director and programmer for four years, she has served extensively on juries at several international film festivals. She lived in Paris for two years where she collaborated with Festival Scope, the online and year-round reference platform for film professionals streaming titles selected by 90 of the most prestigious festivals in the world. In 2016 she coordinated the industry event LISBON DOCS - International Financing and Co-production Forum, a workshop and pitching event for documentary projects, promoted by EDN – European Documentary Network and Apordoc.

António Valente

António Valente holds a doctorate in cinema, teaches at the University of Aveiro, UTAD and has been a guest professor at several higher education institutions. He gave lectures and seminars at universities in Austria, Brazil, El Salvador, Spain, USA, France, Ireland, Japan, Morocco, United Kingdom, Sao Tome and Principe and Switzerland.

He produced and co-directed the first feature film of the Portuguese animated film “To the Top of the World”, several times awarded in the USA and Canada. He has participated in over a hundred films that have been honoured with around two hundred awards at festivals.

Filmmaker, director of the AVANCA Film Festival since 1997 (, and the scientific conference "AVANCA | CINEMA, International Conference Cinema – Art, Technology, Communication" since 2010.


Patrik Sjöberg


Patrik Sjöberg is an Assistant Professor in Cinema STudies at Karlstad University in Sweden. He is the author of The World in Pieces - A Study on Compilation Film, Aura Förlag, 2001, a contribuitor to several anthologies on documentary culture (most recent in A Companion to Contemporary Documentary Film, ed. Alisa Lebow and Alexandra Juhasz, "Face Blind: Documentary and the Subversion of Surveillance", 2015) as well as articles and essays in Swedish and English. His research seeks out the shared space between documentary film and other related fields, in particular the avant-garde and experimental film, sound art, and media culture. He is currently working on a book on speaking subjects in documentary media and sound art.
