Any filmmaker (professional or amateur) can submit a film as long as the producer/director is Portuguese or the film is shot in Portugal.

What kind of films are you looking for?

You can submit short films, that must be tied to this year’s festival theme “Social Tales”. You should describe how the film fits into the theme in the submission platform.

What do you mean by the theme “Social Tales”?

This year, Frames - Portuguese Film Festival falls under the theme “Social Tales”. The films featured in the program deal with societal issues at various levels whether they be political, economical, or many others. How do we speak about society and reveal its patterns? How does one expose inequality, discrimination or portray a crisis whilst in the midst of it?

We want to hear from filmmakers who have tackled these topics in their work.

Is there a prize?

If your film wins the competitive section of the Festival, you will be invited to be part of the jury of Frames 2018 and the transportation (including airline fare) and accommodation will be on us.

The winning director/producer will also be awarded a monetary prize of 500 Euro.
